This card may be a little late as it is well and truly fall here, but things happen and here we are with a summer card! I used Daniel Smith watercolors, wet on dry, to paint this card; the stamped images are so small that I wanted to be sure the color was mostly within the lines. The stamps are from the July My Monthly Hero kit which was full of sweet pea and lavender and all the things to put them in -- vases, boots, tubs, etc. There was also a butterfly and a cute little bee, I think. All in all, it was one of my favorite kits from Hero Arts.
I stamped onto hot press water color paper and used a violet and a pink for the flowers and two different greens for the pea pods and leaves. The banner was also painted with watercolor and then embossed with Simon Says Stamp fine gold embossing powder. The sentiment doesn't show up as clearly as I would have liked and I think I will try a different banner color if I make this card again. I was in a watercolor world, though, and wanted to use up the rest of that green. I'm thinking I will also change the blade on my paper trimmer, as I can see it's not cutting well. :-)
I liked the way this card turned out -- the background is sort of marbled and those flowers really stand out from the rest of the colors. (Trust me, they really do; the photo above doesn't really show how pink some of the sweet pea is...just one of those camera days, I guess!) Now, it's onward to fall and a change of palette; how I love the colors of Autumn.
Here are the supplies I used:
Neenah Solar White cardstock
Hero Arts July My Monthly Hero stamp set
Simon Says Stamp cardstock - Doll Pink
Arches hot press watercolor paper
Daniel Smith watercolors
Simon Says Stamp gold embossing powder
