Get Well...

Extra time seems like it has been in short supply lately, but my son gave me the perfect excuse to enjoy an intermission and make a card. He called and said he had a spring cold, so what could I  do? When someone in your family is sick no one is going to argue if you neglect other things for a while...

I knew that I wanted to create a window scene for my little bird because, 1) I wanted it to look as if he had just flown in to town, and 2) he had flown 2000 miles to see my son and needed something to sit on! I used the window frame die from the Hero Arts February kit and cut four windows out. After gluing two sets of frames together, I embossed one of the frames with SSS White Embossing Powder twice. I then created an outdoor scene for the window using cloud and sun stamps, also from the Hero Arts February kit.

I used adhesive to tape the plain window frame on my outdoor scene, saving the embossed set for later...

I wanted to find some paper with a wallpaper-like pattern and came up with this one from Pink Paislee. I used Tombow Mono Adhesive to attach the window scene to my patterned paper, and then to some 100 lb. dark blue cardstock from Recollections. For some reason, the paper package didn't list a name for this specific paper, but it looks good with the pattern. I attached some mini foam squares to the window frame in preparation for the heat embossed frame.

You can see the Lawn Fawn stamp set I used here; a few Copic markers, some careful cutting and a few foam squares resulted in a panel to attach to my card base.

I had decided from the start that I didn't want a sentiment on the front of this busy card, but it kind of seemed like it needed something else. I added a dimensional sticker from EK Success and called it good! The band-aids will go on the inside with the "get well soon!" sentiment. It is a busy card, but I liked the way it turned out.
